1937. San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, a stunning technological and artistic achievement, opens to the public after five years of construction. On opening day--"Pedestrian Day"--some 200,000 bridge walkers marveled at the 4,200-foot-long suspension bridge, which spans the Golden Gate Strait at the entrance to San Francisco Bay and connects San Francisco and Marin County. On May 28, the Golden Gate Bridge opened to vehicular traffic.

High School News:

All students enrolled in AP Biology for next year please come to room 34032 (Mrs. Quinn's lab) TODAY right after school at 3:00 for a meeting concerning summer assignments and expectations for next year. Please let Mrs. Quinn know if you can not make this meeting, as you will need to make arrangements to meet with her separately and get your summer assignment packet.

In John 14:15, Jesus said, "If you love me, you will obey what I command."  One of his commandments is that we submit to those he has put in authority over us.  Those in authority over you have laid out a dress code.  As we are in the home stretch of the year, finish strong by choosing to walk in obedience.

Students, please be sure all your textbooks are returned to your teachers before the school year is over. In case you didn't know, lost books fees can cost 50 - $100 per book!

Here's a tip on returning your textbooks: Be sure that your name and the 2009-2010 school year is written in the inside cover of your textbook and that you personally turn in your book to your teacher. I'm sure everyone wants to avoid being charged book fees so please be diligent to get them to your teachers.

Students, faculty and staff.... let's remember that this Friday, May 28th, is Graduation day for our 2010 Seniors. Don't miss the opportunity to celebrate with them as we honor them in the Sanctuary at 7PM. No reservations are necessary and the entire church and school community are invited!

On This Day in History

On this day in 1959, Harvey Haddix of the Pittsburgh Pirates pitches 12 perfect innings against the Milwaukee Braves, only to lose the game on a two-run double by Braves' first baseman Joe Adcock in the 13th inning. It was the first time a pitcher threw more than nine perfect innings in major league history.

The Word of God for the Day

Zephaniah 3:17    The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.

The Official CCA Bad Joke of the Day

Butch: How was Steve's first day of work at the bubblegum plant?

Chester: Not so good. He fell into a huge vat of gum.

Butch: My goodness! Did his boss fire him?

Chester: No, he just chewed him out.
