On This Day in History

On this day in 1789, George Washington is sworn in as the first American president and delivers the first inaugural speech at Federal Hall in New York City. Elements of the ceremony set tradition; presidential inaugurations have deviated little in the two centuries since Washington's inauguration.

The Word of God for the Day

Ephesians 4:22-24   You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

The Official CCA Bad Joke of the Day

Herb: I'll have you know that Junior could recite the Gettysburg Address at the age of twenty-two!

Max: What's so great about that?

Herb: Well, Abraham Lincoln didn't recite it until he was fifty-four!

We want to express our appreciation to our sources and we encourage you to consider supporting them in some way.

·         Many jokes taken from Workman Publishing's "Page a Day365 Jokes, Puns and Riddles Calendar"
