High School News:

The deadline for submissions to our inaugural literary magazine, "Journey," has been extended to Monday, December 8! So if you want to show the world your art skills, enter Journey's Writing, Art, and Photography. The winners will be published in this beautiful, full color, glossy publication which will be published in the spring of 2011. Originality plays a major role in all art competitions so make sure that you only send out your best work. For details, go to the CCA website's home page and click on the Journey icon.

 

The Guidance Department will be issuing your second semester schedules during home room on Monday December 6th.  Be sure to be on time for school on Monday so that you receive your schedule.

 

Club News:

All Student Council Officers will meet in Dr. Wormsley's room TODAY during lunch.  Please bring your lunch and be prompt so you can get started on time.  This includes all council and class representative officers.

Athletics News: 

The JV boys basketball team were lead by Jordan Sampson and Logan Williams respectively with 16 and 10 points, but it was our great team defense that won the game... score 62-34.

Hey CCA fans! TODAY is FAN Day, so head over to Highlands Christian to cheer on the Eagles and they take on the Highlands Knights... the Varsity Boys basketball team plays at 4:00 in the Highlands gym, and then go out to the fields for the varsity girls soccer match at 5, and then a varsity boys match at 7:00. It will be guaranteed fun and our Eagle teams need your FAN support!

 

 On This Day in History          

On December 3, 1967, 53-year-old Lewis Washkansky receives the first human heart transplant at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa.

After Washkansky's surgery, he was given drugs to suppress his immune system and keep his body from rejecting the heart. These drugs also left him susceptible to sickness, however, and 18 days later he died from double pneumonia. Despite the setback, Washkansky's new heart had functioned normally until his death.
