On This Day in History

October 21, 1555: Finding that the recent martyrdom of bishops Nicholas Ridley and Hugh Latimer had intensified Protestant zeal, Queen Mary launches a series of fierce persecutions in which more than 200 men, women, and children were killed.

The Word for the Day

sacrosanct  \SAK-roh-sankt\ , adjective:

1. Extremely sacred or inviolable.

2. Not to be entered or trespassed upon.

3. Above or beyond criticism, change, or interference.

The family was viewed as sacrosanct: divorce was highly unusual and children were expected to be grateful for the sacrifices that parents, who postponed their own gratifications in forming a family, made on their behalf.

The Official CCA Bad Joke of the Day

Why do ducks have webbed feet?  To stamp out fires.

Why do elephants have flat feet?  To stamp out burning ducks.

The Word of God for the Day

Psalms 46:10 NKJV   Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!
