PENNY WARS!!!!

The first homecoming class competition will begin this week and run until next week to earn points for your grade!!!  Penny Wars is a serious class competition that helps each class earn points for their grade for Homecoming, here is how it works:

  • bring in all the change and cash you possibly can
  • pennies are positive points
  • silver and dollars are negative points (higher the value of the cash more negative points its worth)
  • fill your grade's bucket up with the most pennies to win points for your homecoming, and put silver and dollars in the other grades buckets to give them negative points
  • buckets will be in the commons and at the hub ONLY at lunch time everyday

The class who raises the most points by the end of lunch on Friday Nov 6th will earn serious points for their grade, this is serious..... this is war... this is Penny Wars!!!

Registration and payment for the Homecoming Social can be made on the homepage of the website. The cost is $25 per person, but will increase to $30 on Wednesday, November 4th. Only CCA high school students are invited to attend the dance. Each participant must turn in a signed dance covenant to his/her homeroom teacher by Wednesday, November 4th to participate in the event.

Come and join CCA's Bravo Theatre Company as they perform pieces written by one of the world's most beloved authors, Shel Silverstein, including a moving performance of his most famous work, The Giving Tree. They will be hosting a coffee house in the Black Box TODAY from 3:15 - 4:30, with baked goods and beverages for sale. Entry fee is $2. The money raised will go towards the Theatre Department. Please come out and support your peers!

Important moments:  Coming into the race the runners were tired and not excited to run.  When we got to the race the varsity girls were given the opportunity to run in the 2 mile run instead of the 5K. As a result the older girls were able to watch the younger runners compete and cheer them on.  The team talked about schools they liked to run with and many of the comments were based on teams that cheered for everyone during the competitions, like Posnak.  During the races all the runners made it a point to cheer for all the school competing not just Calvary.  Both coaches are very proud of the team for their hard work and dedication in a sport that doesn't receive much glory or recognition, but it does build discipline in all areas of life.  My prayer would be that the students maintain that dedication to discipline in their studies and time with God even after the season ends.  Go Eagles! :-)

Note: The District competition is next week on Tuesday, November 3 starting at 3PM at Westminster's West Campus.

Students, if you have played a Fall sport and your season is finished, please wash and fold your uniform, and bring it in this week. Please bring it directly to your coach, as they will be collecting the uniforms.

On This Day in History

October 28, 1949: Jim Elliot, missionary to Ecuador's Auca Indians, writes in his journal the most famous of his sayings: "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.

The Word of God for the Day

James 3:18    But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.

The Official CCA Bad Joke of the Day

There's a young man sitting in church.

The pastor says come forward if you would like to be prayed over for anything.

A young man comes forward and says please pray for my hearing

As the pastor is close to wrapping up the service he asks the young man, "Son, how's your hearing?"

I don't know it's not until Tuesday.
