High School News:

 Don't forget to order your Valentine Grams  during lunch TODAY outside of the hub. This will be the last time to place an order. The prices are $5 for a small, $10 for a medium, $15 for a large, and $10 to upgrade your gram to a singing gram.

 

Silver Knight Seniors have a required meeting (during lunch) TOMORROW in Conference Rm B (behind DB Reception). Please be prompt and bring your lunch. We are entering the interview phase of the process! Go Knights!

The track team will be practicing today at the WA track from 5:00 to 6:30.  If there are any track team members who are staying after school, there is a homework room available, room 2270, which is Mr. Reilly's and Mr. Groeneveld's room. Please meet at the front of the school by 4:45 for departure to the track field.

 

On This Day in History          

1950 - American missionary and Auca Indian martyr Jim Elliot warned in his journal: "Sin in a Christian makes God seem distant, deaf. In the body, sin saps animation, as cancer. In the soul, sin stifles the affections, as corrosion. In the spirit, sin solidifies the attitudes, as callous.

1887 - Cleveland signs the Dawes Severalty Act. In a well-meaning but ultimately flawed attempt to assimilate Native Americans, President Grover Cleveland signs an act to end tribal control of reservations and divide their land into individual holdings. The act reversed the long-standing American policy of allowing Indian tribes to maintain their traditional practice of communal use and control of their lands. Instead, the Dawes Act gave the president the power to divide Indian reservations into individual, privately owned plots. The act dictated that men with families would receive 160 acres, single adult men were given 80 acres, and boys received 40 acres. Women received no land.
