On This Day in History

1791. English founder of Methodism John Wesley advised in a letter: "Do a little at a time that you may do the more."

On this day in 1971, pitcher Leroy "Satchel" Paige becomes the first Negro League veteran to be nominated for the Baseball Hall of Fame. In August of that year, Paige, a pitching legend known for his fastball, showmanship and the longevity of his playing career, which spanned five decades, was inducted. Joe DiMaggio once called Paige "the best and fastest pitcher I've ever faced."

The Word of God for the Day

Luke 6:31    Do to others as you would have the do to you.

The Official CCA Bad Joke of the Day

An elderly man and his friend are playing golf one day at their local golf course. The man is about to hit a drive off the tee when he sees a long funeral procession on the road next to the course. He stops mid-swing, takes off his golf cap, closes his eyes and bows his head in prayer. His friend says "Wow, that is the most thoughtful and touching gesture I have ever seen. You are truly a kind man." "Well," the man replies, "we were married 35 years."
