The Golf Committee has organized a special half-day off school where students will participate in a kickball game and enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers and sodas if they make their goal of $40 (or more). How are you doing with your $40 for the golf tournament? Remember you're working towards your labs and your library and your effort and enthusiasm will be rewarded.

ATHLETICS NEWS:  Go CCA Eagles!

BASEBALL

CCA vs St. Marks

CCA 12, St. Marks 4

Jeremy Viveros pitched 1 scoreless inning, Hunter Walker pitched three allowing only 3 runs. Also pitching his first time ever, Matt Jones closed the last inning striking out 2 and allowing no runs. Making our defensive play of the game, Sam Cudmore made an amazing center field diving catch.

Offensive highlights started with Luke Poirier slamming a lead off home run and LJ Dutton hits 4 for 4, including a stand up triple and scored every at bat.

Coach gave a presentation at ST. Marks about CCA's academics, athletics, fine arts, family love for each other and most importantly the CCA heart for Jesus. It was well received and as always we prayed with both teams after the game.

On This Day in History

1927 - Major Henry O'Neil de Hane Segrave became the first man to break the 200mph barrier. Driving a 1,000 horsepower Mystery Sunbeam, Segrave averaged 203.79mph on the course at Daytona Beach, Florida. Segrave and his contemporary, British racer Malcolm Campbell, battled for land-speed supremacy throughout the 1920s. Segrave won the most historic victory in the long-standing competition when he broke the 200mph barrier and went on to set many more land-speed records. Between his efforts and Campbell's, Great Britain dominated the land-speed record books until jet engines usurped supremacy from internal combustion engines. Segrave died in 1930, attempting to set a new water speed record.

The Word of God for the Day

2 Corinthians 9:6   Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

The Official CCA Bad Joke of the Day

Why did Columbus sail to America?

It was faster than swimming.
